Since its inception in 1997, the Cuba Project has organized a bi-annual international symposium to better understand changes in Cuba– in a global context.
As of July 2011, the Cuba Project has convened seven major conferences, the most recent being Cuba Futures, which was held in April 2011 at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York. As change in the social, cultural and political spheres in Cuba and the world became a constant force, the conferences have begun to reflect these realities: Cuba Today (2004), Cuba: In Transition? (2006), A Changing Cuba in a Changing World (2008) and Cuba Futures (2011).
This effort has been made possible with the consistent and generous support from the Ford Foundation, Christopher Reynolds Foundation and others.
